Cricket, oh no, I love it. Well my boys beat India in the ODI series 2 games to 1 and it was a nail biting moment

Can I just point out, I wasn't a "Scorer" for just one cricket team when Ken was playing cricket. It was 3 cricket teams he played for and sometimes for all 3 in one week. Plus, this was in the 70's not 80's.Rob wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2026 9:52 pm![]()

Just because Barb was a "Scorer" for a Birmingham Works cricket team in the 80's doesnt make her an aficionado !! Now Ken is another kettle of fish he played the game with a very good friend of mine and his , Ken's, opinion would matter. I'd be interested to hear Ken's opinion of the 100 series. Oh and on the subject of cricket can i just pause to pay my respect for Sir Garfield Sobers a boyhood idol of mine who passed away recently.
I don't and never have claimed to be a complete aficianado of cricket. Do you know the meaning of aficianado?
1) Cambridge Dictionary gives - "Someone who is very interested in and enthusiastic about a particular subject"
2) Collins Dictionary gives - "If someone is an aficionado of something, they like it and know a lot about it"
I claim to be Item No: 1, as I have never been interested in the fielding positions the cricketers play in, words such as "in the slips", "the leg side", "the off side" etc. which would put me into Item No: 2.
