Walter's father, Walter Edwin, was awarded a Dependant's Pension of 6/0d (6 shillings exactly) per week, effective from 25th April 1919. His address was 48 Ethelfleda Terrace, Wednesbury, later 80 Handley Street, Wednesbury. This pension was active for 20 years; when Walter Edwin (senior) died on 16th November 1938, the pension passed his widow Eliza J Astbury - she was the third wife of Walter (senior) and so the step-mother of Walter (junior), Eliza died shortly afterwards in December quarter 1939.
