Seth Hingley attended Hasbury C of E School and enlisted in the Worcesters late in the war. He joined the 2nd Battalion which suffered heavily in the 1918 German Spring offensives and then required rebuilding and retraining in the summer. The Advance to Victory commenced in August and one of the greatest achievements the Worcesters took part in was the capture of the St. Quentin Canal and the breaking of the Hindenburg Line on the 29th September. German resistance, however, was not broken. Although the British advance continued, the 2nd Battalion suffered a setback in attempting to cross the River Selle. A few days later on the 16th October Private Seth Hingley was killed in action and is buried at Hautmont Cemetery (IV C 28) near Le Cateau. He is commemorated on the Halesowen and Hasbury C of E School Memorials.
