.Philemon Taylor
Philemon is in the Family Bible and also in Joseph's Will written in August 1841.
https://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/t ... onnections
For some reason, even though he is the eldest although he receives the same amount of money as the others, Joseph leaves the house, on the death of Ann to Nathan. In the Family Bible he is baptized on 26th September 1819 but it looks like he was baptized twice because there is also a record on English Select Births and Christenings and Worcestershire Church of England Births and Baptism of him being baptized on 12th March 1820. Presumably they didn't expect him to survive. The Will mentions the spouses of Sarah and Eleanor but not of Philemon and Eliza.
Eliza married May 1841 so perhaps the Will was written in stages, it is 6 sheets of A4 long.
I cannot find Philemon in the 1841 or 1851 Censuses but in 1861 he is living in Ledbury and married to a Margaret who is 43 and from Stirling in Scotland .
In 1871 they are living on Worrall Lane, Bradfield so near Sheffield.
There is a Burial record for Philemon on 12 March 1875 in Wadsley which is about 8 miles away from Bradfield.
I haven't been able to find a marriage record.
Both Joseph and Albert believed Philemon died in a war but I can find no evidence and wonder if they lost contact when he moved to Yorkshire.
There must have been some contact in 1841 for him to have been included in the Will but perhaps he wasn't well thought of.
If this makes sense could the information be added to Philemon on BCC

We can't go just by that info Frodo.
It needs to be researched and be able to link up.

That is the information I found. As I can't find marriage information I wonder if they married in Scotland although I do wonder how they met.

It's a shame the 1841 and 1851 Censuses haven't come to light, depending on how young they were on marriage, the children could have left home by the time of the later Censuses.

Hi the 1819 baptism is not registered at the parish book at St Michael Stoke Prior Worcestershire they must have guessed it? the 1820 one is , you cannot be christened twice at the same church best RF

Re: Philemon Taylor
The family were all baptized at St Michael's not St Luke's. I think you may have the wrong Stoke Prior. It is the one in Worcestershire near Bromsgrove. Having just looked at the Family Bible again it actually says half baptized at Stoke Prior by the Rector Reverend George. The family were all either Church of England or later in the Nineteenth Century Non Conformist. Given how close 26th September is to 19th September I wonder if they thought he wasn't going to survive and wanted him blessed in some way -- they were a very religious family.

Re: Philemon Taylor
Yes 21st September 1819 matches the date in the Bible, he was born about 8.30 in the evening. I looked up half baptized and it definitely means that he wasn't expected to live so the family wanted him blessed in this case by Rev. George, Rector at Stoke Prior. They would then haven actual baptism later if the child survived.

Philemon Taylor
I have just seen the topic has been archived. Is there any other way of finding Philemon on the Censuses. I know finding the marriage/Margaret's surname is impossible.

Re: Philemon Taylor
I have put the info on BCC here and also possibly linked to Philemon on BCC.
https://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/brows ... =518330082
As for census, I can not see anything, trying many different ways of spelling.
Perhaps ask for this to be moved to Brick Walls?
