William Carradine lived at Cradley and volunteered for the Royal Flying Corps, which became the major part of the newly created Royal Air Force of 1918. He was stationed at the Central Flying School but was seriously injured in a flying accident. Flight Lieutenant William Carradine died on the 3rd July 1918 and is buried in Cradley Churchyard (B 42). He is commemorated on the Cradley and Halesowen Memorials.
