Horace Binns was the son of Fanny Binns and was married to Leah Binns of 21 Blackacre Road, Dudley. He enlisted after 1916 and was sent to the 2nd/10th Battalion of the London Regiment. They went to the Western Front early in 1917 and assisted in the follow up the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line in March. They fought at Bullecourt in May and then moved the Ypres saliebt for the September phase of the Third Battle of Ypres. They fought in the battled of the Menin Road from the 20th September and Private Horace Binns was killed in action on the 24th September. He was 39 years of age and is commemorated on the Menin Gate, Dudley and St. James' church Memorials.
