Benjamin Basil
Gender: Male
Spouse: Beatrice
Child: Geoffrey Basil Price
Description: 42: Japanese Index Cards of Allied Prisoners of War and Internees, World War II: Pragnell-Rayson

Opening up the the Japanese Index Cards it says.....

Name: Price, Geoffrey Basil date of birth 24.7.1919
Rank: Driver
Unit: Royal Army Service Corps
Place of Capture: Malaya
Date of Capture: 17.2.15
Fathers Name: Benjamin Basil
Mothers Name: Beatrice

Even though he wasn't born until 1919, looking at this it looks like Geoffrey is the one having been captured and the report is intended for his father. I haven't come across this before, Is that the normal way of doing things?

Thanks for all that kdw

I think I have it all now but what do you make of this -

I really don't understand that at all, should it be 1945?

It seems to be a record intended to inform the next of kin. If you scroll though the records it can be intended for the father/mother/wife of the soldier in the prison of war camp. So age doesn't come into it. All the soldiers would be asked for next of kin
