ARC TBC Joseph Round and Mary Hammond
Having altered my family tree to include the correct MaryI have been trying to find additional information about Mary Hammond with no success so any information would be appreciated.
When I entered the marriage to Joseph Round on Ancestry it found two marriage records of 6/3/1831and 14/3/1831. Is this possible?
Whilst I was browsing I saw John and Lucretia as possible names for Mary's parents. Can anyone confirm this? Lucretia would make sense as the eldest daughter was Lucretia.

On Ancestry it says that the 6/3/1831 date is from film no. 1470765. If you look that up on FamilySearch.org it is said to be "Burials 1894-1906 Marriage Banns 1811-1841"
So best guess is that somebody entered one of the dates when the banns were read.
The other date is from a film that is "Bishop's transcripts for Kingswinford, 1666-1857"
The marriage is also transcribed on freereg.org.uk and I think that is from the parish records:
Place (Links to more information) Kingswinford
Church name (Links to more information) St Mary
Register entry number 113
Marriage date 14 Mar 1831
Groom forename Joseph
Groom surname ROUND
Groom abode Kingswinford
Bride forename Mary
Bride surname HAMMOND
Bride abode Kingswinford
Witness1 Sarah HARRIS
Witness2 John PALMER
Notes Bride and both witnesses sign by mark

Thanks for that. It would make sense. Is there any information about Mary's parents John and Lucretia? It would be interesting to know as Lucretia was a family name

Re: Joseph Round and Mary Hammond
Thanks. That is where I found the names but hoping to find out more. Depending on their age they could have been alive for the 1841 Census. Also are there any death records. I noticed that there is an s in the surname which isn't on the marriage records so presumably could appear as either.

Re: Joseph Round and Mary Hammond
Ancestry has brought up an 1841 Census entry for a John Hammonds born about 1786 in Shropshire living in Cleobury Mortimer but also listed are a Mary age 45 and four young children James, Lydia, Henry and Lucy but also another hint about a John Hammonds dying in 1822 in Worlfield Shropshire. Either or neither could be correct.
I have also sourced on Ancestry christening details for a John Hammonds on 5th May 1785 at Great Harwood with parents Thomas and Sarah and another on 31st December 1784 at Cleobury Mortimer with parents William and Anne. Again I presume either feasible.

Re: Joseph Round and Mary Hammond
Another child for John and Lucretia
Name: William Hammonds
Gender: Male
Baptism Date: 18 Oct 1807
Baptism Place: Stottesden and Farlow,Shropshire,England
Father:
John Hammonds
Mother:
Lucretia
FHL Film Number: 510679
If Lucretia died it is possible that John remarried and had a second family. As mentioned before:
1841
John Hammonds 55
Mary Hammonds 45
James Hammonds 11
Lydia Hammonds 9
Henry Hammonds 7
Lucy Hammonds 5
and then same address I think
John Hammond 53
Mary Hammond 56
James Hammond 21
Lidia Hammond 19
John's age could be 65 even, hard to tell.
Henry and Lucy are elsewhere as servants and give birth place as Farlow (compare with William's baptism, above)
There is this
Name: John Hammonds
Gender: Male
Burial Date: 05 Mar 1857
Burial Place: Cleobury-Mortimer, Shropshire, England
FHL Film Number: 1657548
HAMMONDS, JOHN 75
GRO Reference: 1857 M Quarter in CLEOBURY MORTIMER Volume 06A Page 379
Then Mary alone, still at Crump Brook
1861
Mary Hammonds 66
then she moves in with son James and family, and dies in 1879
Hard to be sure of course

Re: Joseph Round and Mary Hammond
Thanks that's helpful. It does seem to make sense although like you said difficult to be sure. I'm not sure whether to use Hammond or Hammonds as there doesn't seem to be an obvious changeover point.
Might be worth putting on Brick Walls in case anything else crops up.

Browsing records on Ancestry I have just found a marriage for a John Hammonds and Mary Hale on 20th November 1836 at Sidbury, Shropshire. FHL film no 1657590 ref id item 7 p4. Could this be John's second marriage?

Re: Joseph Round and Mary Hammond
Again browsing through records on Ancestry there are several marriage records for a John Hammonds and a Mary in Shropshire in the time between Lucretia's death and the 1841 census but of those I've seen (there may be more) the most likely is Mary Richards 5th October 1828 Hopton Wafers FHL 992210. Any thoughts?
