Hello Genealogists,
My 6th great-grandfather Isaac married Martha but it’s hard to tell which one he is, as well sourced genealogies go with conflicting people and argue very convincingly that their research is right rather than the other Isaac.
The possible Isaacs are 1766 Dudley with parents Joseph Timmins and Phebe Nock, and 1758 parents John Timmins and Rachel Standey.
I’m leaning towards John and Rachel because most ancestors of mine married in their twenties or very late teens and Joseph and Phoebe’s child was 15 when supposed to have married Martha Dudley on July 24, 1781.
With that being said, Martha came from a very wealthy family which was Dudley and there’s a chance that the marriage was arranged and she was married with him as teens.
Martha Dudley
Baptism Date: 8 Nov 1761
Baptism Place: Tipton, Stafford, England
Father: Joseph Dudley
Mother: Mary (DARBEY).
Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you so much!

Hi
What else do you know? Do their children's names give any clue?
How certain are you that Martha came from a wealthy family? There are a number of Martha's born around that time and not all the Dudley's were rich.
Have you seen the marriage record? And the banns entries? Do they say "of full age"?

so you may be right and it is this one

Are those the burials? Isaac born 1757 and Martha 1750? Martha's age seems a bit off but perhaps no one was sure

Hi there thanks.
There was only one Martha Dudley christened in that area at the right time and that is the Martha Dudley who is the daughter of Mary Darbey.

I think it is very hard going further back unless you have complete information. Very hard to confirm to be 100%.
The baptism does not show Martha's maiden name.
If Martha was from a wealthy family wonder if there is something in the newspapers? Or Will?
We can only see what is on line or local records office.
Was Martha born in the area?
As Gardener said do the childrens name follow any pattern?
Any witnesses to marriage to help?
Were they married before?
I think it takes a lot of digging if they were not here for census to be able to rely on some information.
