Look up for Farside done! -Aston/Asson

Post by linell »

While entering my Aston family on BCC this morning, I noticed we have this family listed:-

Samuel Asson 1819 born Brierley Hill
Elizabeth Wife 1820 born B'ham Warks
Samuel Son 5 born Dudley
Elizabeth DA 2 born Dudley

1851 Census Spring Mire Dudley.

I think this is incorrect, the family are recorded on my 1851 Census as Aston. What do the Mods think?

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

My first instinct was to have them as Aston but just checked on the births of those kids and they seem to be Asson
So think we need to run with 2 names on this one
Would like to know what the name became for this lot
The Census take with a pinch of salt anyway
but the bmd and bapts I think will swing it

So we will keep at Asson for the moment but see how name changed forward and back then I will make a decision later
I must say on all the look ups not seen name Asson but seem quite a few on bmsgh

It is imp though where possible to keep to one variant so do flag any more like this please
