Re: possible marriage
just got this info permission to post it left the living out only as son
HI Peter,
Edith Griffiths was born October 5, 1891 at 79 Hacket St Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, England (source is GRO birth record); her obit indicated Oct 9th, but I have found obits to have incorrect information on occasion.
She married
John Henry Dyas on 26 May 1912 at the Parish Church of Blackheath in the Counties of Worcester and Stafford.
Father of the bride is Thomas Griffiths; deceased, chemical worker;
father of the groom is Samuel Dyas; Coal Agent;
Witnesses: John Cole, Elizabeth Southall.
Edith passed away on 7 July 1948 (during surgery) in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
They had 3 children:
my grandmother Dorothy Gertrude Dyas (as I mentioned previously only her birth record shows her names switched as Gertrude Dorothy) born on Nov 22, 1912 at 285 Causeway Green Road in Oldbury, Birmingham, England; d 21 May 1966;
son still living also in Birmingham, England
Margaret Joyce Dyas born 19 Oct 1929 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; d. 23 Nov 1933 also in Oshawa.

Re: possible marriage
Knowing that Thomas Griffiths father was George Griffiths and having several DNA matches with this family line for myself and my uncle Harry, I am certain that the George Griffths born 1825 in Great Bridge, Staffordshire married to Phoebe Slim born 1828 in Rowley Regis, Staffordshire are his parents.

Re: possible marriage
Ruth Mason's father
Silas was born about 1837; he was baptized 19 Mar 1837 at St Thomas, Dudley, Worcester
to parents John Mason and Eliza Elwell;
he married Elizabeth Cooper abt Jan/Feb/Mar 1856.
They only had one child that I could find and that was Ruth.
Sadly, Silas died in a tragic workplace accident on 13 Jan 1869 Blackheath, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire in a coal pit. death record: 31 years; Coal miner; crushed by a fall of coal in a coal pit. Information received from Edwin Hooper, coroner for Staffordshire; inquest held 15th January 1869; registered Jan 21, 1869. He was buried on 17 Jan, 1869 in Rowley Regis.

Re: possible marriage
I just thought that I should mention that John Henry Dyas' obituary (he died 11 Aug 1967 in Oshawa) incorrectly stated his parents as "Thomas and Elsie". I asked my great uncle Harry about this as he would have been involved at the time, but he didn't know why it said that so we assumed that it was due to John Henry's second wife (Mary Cummings Stevenson) likely did the obit with incorrect information. I found John Henry in the England census with different parents, so I had to order the marriage record to know for sure. Thanks again!

Re: marriage can anyone add ?
Are all certificates viewable or do you have them Pete? Other than RF's look up?
It would be best to have confirmation to view before it is added to the tree.

OK Pete. I am not saying the info is incorrect.
We go by certificates and look ups as best we can so the info is as correct as it can be.
Not doubting you or your contact.
So yes it would be best for certificates to be sent.
