GRO Refund...

Post by Caty6402 »

Hi wonder if anyone has had this happen...

I applied to the GRO for the marriage certificate of grandfather and grandmother with the vol number page and area as given on the GRO search, only to receive an email and partial refund stating that the certificate didn’t exist. This isn’t something I’ve experienced before and am somewhat bemused and confused. Has anyone else had this happen, how did you solve it? Tia

Take photo shoot of the page with the numbers on it and sent it back asking for a certificate or a full refund

Its never happened to me. Seems odd.
Are you sure it is the right marriage?
If you are certain I would do as Pete says.
I did once have a problem ordering a birth certificate and I received a birth and death cert of the same person. :? One was added on a death certificate rather than a birth certificate... I told them but no reply.

Who is the person? So we can look too.

Hey,
The marriage certificate is for Bertie Heard and Prudence D Peek it took place in the 4qtr 1929 at St Olive Southwark London Volume 1D page 363.

I’ll do as suggested re photo.

Yep this is them and I find it hard to believe the GRO are saying there is no record. I have emailed them back with a screenshot of the record details as suggested.
