Looking for William Faulkner on the 1861/1871 censu, William was born abt 1809 at Rowley Regis he Married Hannah Hatton , I have found Hannah on the 1861/1871 census at :-

1861Census - North Aston St. Tipton - Hannah Faulkner age 54 Marr?
1871 Census -Oak Lane West Bromwich - Hannah Faulkner age 65 Marr?

Hannah 's two daughters are also living with her , Hannah puts that she is married but I can't find William anywhere else, any idea's will be most welcome & appreciated. Perhaps William as already died if so why did Hannah put she was married. :?

I've got a few missing husbands on the 1861 Census, but most of them are back by 1871. My husband tells me that was the time of the Crimean War also the Zulu Wars, a lot of men were abroad fighting in that time frame. HTH from Linell.

Not sure Annie, maybe on the National Archives Web Site, not sure if Lower Ranks would be recorded, the Cannon Fodder as they were known, probably only the Officers. Peterd will probably know, he will be along soon I should imagine. Best Wishes from Linell.

Thanks Peter, I presume as is the case today, after any War the Troops would be stationed there for sometime later? Wonder if they had to walk home or did they have horse driven wagons :?: The logistics must have been horrendous when you think about it :!: Linell.
