I attended a talk at Tipton library last week about the history of AA Walters funeral directors.
William Walters moved to Tipton from kingsnorton he was the son of a farmer. He married at 17 although marriage certs lies 21 so he didn't have to have his father's permmision.
The buisness was originally a wheelwright set up under Navigation bridge in Tipton where he could work in all weather's.
His son's ran the business in the 20th century giving the business it's name that we know today as AA Walters.

Rachel met Costumed Character Nigel who is now portraying her Great Grandfather, Arthur Walters at the BCLM

Arthur was born in Tipton and lived on Bell Street for most of his life. He was married for over 50 years to Susan Wilkes, a Coseley girl (the picture on link above is of him on his 50th wedding anniversary). He played an active role in community life, even supporting local charitable organisations and offering cheaper rates for the poor to bury loved ones.

Nigel will be portraying Arthur to school groups initially, explaining Victorian mourning culture to young children and passing on the history of Arthur to younger generations.
