Completed Help to decipher please? 1871 census London/ Howse

Post by gandalf458x »

I would be grateful if some kind soul would look up Lydia Howse in the 1871 census for me. The details from UKCensusOnline is:

Lydia Howse 38 London 1833 Berkshire

Thank you

Ever wondered whose idea it was to put "Warning: a certificate is not evidence of identity" on a DEATH certificate?!

Thanks so much @grangers14. I appreciate the help.

Edit: Do you know where I would go to see the original? I have the head as Edmund (an easy mistake) and his profession as gilder, which doesn't seem to go with clerk...

It could be Edmund looking at the image again. The occupation looks like B? Clerk?

Oh cool - many thanks! Looks like "Builder" to me, not so sure about the "clerk".

Cheers G

Thanks, yes, that's them. Edmund started out as House then started spelling it Howse. I think this was when he changed trades from gilder to builder. His wife's death certificate says builder, so I'm puzzled at the 'clerk' bit. I'm trying to find Edmund's death. Can't find a certificate and he's not in the 1881 census, although 3 of his kids are, so I guess he died between the 1871 and the 1881 census.
