I have just learned that my gt g/father, Edward WILLETTS died on 18th July 1913, possibly as the result of an accident. Can anyone add anything to this or point me to a source for an obituary or news story in which this may be recorded? As a local businessman and property owner, surely his death could not have gone un-noticed?
Also, does anyone have a photo of Edward and/or his wife, Hannah WILLETTS (formerly TROMAN)?
Regards to all,

Hi Jenni

I am moving this to the Black Country Genealogy section as that is the area that the post covers

The local archives should be able to help you with this if you write to them
not sure of the costs
they have the newspapers for that area
So the local paper may have an article in

so it may be Sandwell (Smethwick) or Dudley depending on where he lived
if you can narrow it down to a specific date of death via the death certif they can look at the papers
as I say there is i believe a charge

I have a copy of the marriage certificate this marriage. Edward Willetts b 1846 is my great grandfather. also have copy of his and Hannahs birth certificate and of marriage of John Tromans Hannah's father marriage to Ann Gadd and Edwards father's marriage to Sarah Parkes. I remember hearing a story as a child of a grand parent being killed when a horse bolted on Gorsty Hill- this has never been confirmed. I have always believed this to be Great grandfather Willetts.
Hannah and Edward's grave picture on this site also what I believe to be Hannah Troman's picture ( although this could be Edward's mother Sarah's picture because she later married a man called Tromans). Am in a hurry now -bank holiday weekend and all that will catch up later Suki

What I find is strange is that there is no record of Edwards death and we know the exact date from his grave in the West Mid. BMD any ideas why this might be. I would be happy to send for a death certificate or a newspaper look up. Would his death be registered anywhere else!!!!

Suki, Sep 1913 isn't the actual Month he died. It goes by the Quarter of the year ie:

Mar Qtr = Jan - Mar (inclusive)
Jun Qtr = Apr - Jun (inclusive)
Sep Qtr = Jul - Sep (inclusive)
Dec Qtr = Oct - Dec (inclusive)

So this one falls in the Sep Qtr, hope I've explained that correctly
