"In the Court of Queens Bench, I Alfred Hawkins of Brierley Hill attorneys Clerk make oath and say by Indenture of Assignment of Articles of Clerkship made between Emma Plunkett late of West Bromwich, but now of Middlesex ..........Richard John Cooper of Oldbury ........Thomas Richard Cooper of the same place, doctor of medicine and father of the said Richard John Cooper....and William Shakespeare of Oldbury and also of West Bromwich gentleman one of the Attorneys................after reciting certain articles of clerkship dated 7 April 1860... made between Henry Plunkett gentleman one of the attorneys.................whereby the said Richard John Cooper .....did bind himself clerk to the said Henry Plunkett to serve him in the profession of an Attorney at Law and Solicitor in Chancery from ....for the term of five years......."
