Findmypast has

Vaughan William 1872 — 1894 British Army Service Records Tipton, Staffordshire, England

Vaughan William 1871 — 1900 British Army Service Records Tipton, Dudley, Staffordshire, England

I don't suppose that is him?
I can't see him in the 1901 census.
