*TBC Archive in 24hrs *Viewing the whole tree

I am after viewing the whole Black Country Connections tree.
Not all of it at one time but to be able to move from one view to another to see the clusters
and where we need to work on linking and joining up said clusters.

Does anyone have any ideas?
One has been mentioned but it looks expensive and complex!
I am after free if possible.
The admins/members would have access and they could view it too.

So any ideas welcomed

Hi NL, you can do it from Family Tree Maker, but as you say you would have to scroll all the way through it on your PC Screen!! :P I know you have the patience of a Saint :!: Best Wishes from Linell.

Hi Linell I have tried it from there and it only goes via an individual
so you can see an all in one tree of say Joe Bloggs and export it etc
but you can't see the whole tree with everyone on.

you mean something like the genesreunted tree view..
I use Legacy and don't see anything like the way genesreunited does it
I live in my own little world. But it's ok....they know me here!

Yes like genes does it
so we could scroll around bits of the tree and see where the main connections are and need to link up
no idea if it will work or not but might be helpful

Use Family Historian. It has an excellent tree viewer. Last time I looked, you could download a fully functional demo and import any standard GEDCOM file. Choose the view everyone diagram. It will show you where people occur twice or more in the tree. My wife didn't know her mom and dad were 6th cousins. And she still doesn't believe me :lol: :lol:

It's about £30 download, http://www.family-historian.co.uk, or £41 boxed from Amazon, although I'm sure there's cheaper sites. I've been using it for some time now, so I don't know how prices compare wiith other software, but I've just upgraded and wouldn't consider anything else (at least, not yet!). There's an active usergroup http://www.fhug.org.uk/ that's as good a support site as you'll need: the software's author is a regular contributor. The GECDOM census add-on is realy usefull for recording census events. Beware, it's not the usual family history program, and it can get very complicated indeed when you start to discover some of the clever things it can do. However, it certainly repays persistence.
