ARC TBC Richard Tymmingh of Coseley/Sedgley

Post by popt »

the earliest Timmins ancestor I have is Richard Tymmingh born abt 1541 in Coseley registered at All Saints Church in Sedgley. he married Agnes Briscowe who died early 1572 0r1578. There is a record for a Richard marrying a Margrett Whithouse in 1578 but I am not sure if this is the same Richard marrying for a second time. There are a few children born to a Richard but once again I am not sure whether these are the children borne by Margrett Tymmingh nee Whithouse. Can anyone help me with this as I live in Yorkshire & unable to get to see the original records? Help would be appreciated & I am quite willing to help any other Timmins family Researchers if can.

Have you seen this great web site by Ian Beach?

Ancient Manor of Sedgley
http://www.sedgleymanor.com/

On the left hand side you will see "Census and other listings" and then you will see "1558-1601 Parish Register Extracts"

As you have gone back that far, you will have found out that the majority of the time on baptisms the mother's name is not mentioned. Also on marriages it was not stated that the couple were either a bachelor/widower or spinster/widow or what Parish they came from. So you can't be sure for definite if Richard married again.

I can only suggest that you find the burial of Agnes which took place before Richard's possible marriage to Margrett Whithouse, but even then you can't be sure if it's the same Richard. It will be just guess work.

Dudley Archives & Local History Service hold all the records for All Saints Sedgley.
