Yes, in 1901 Benjamin snr was in boer war, you can google him. He was an Oldbury volunteer! This was why Maud moved in with her sister Ada, and their first born Gladys because we assume she didn't want to be on her own with her first child since Benjamin was in the war,
Yes, the correct Benjamin we are looking for his parents are Maud and Benjamin.
The thing we are looking for is what happened to him later on, because we never were told of him. He was a shock to find on the census a couple of months ago.
I found the Brades Tavern link a couple of weeks ago, but no way to know for certain it is the correct one. Benjamin Parkes was a very popular name, and ran through the family for centuries.
For those who spoke about Lucy Holloway and Benjamin Parkes - they are Benjamin snr's parents.
