This Bridget Worwood:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... ver=375249

I don't think she was born in Dudley- note in the 1881 census she says West Bromwich.

I think this is her baptism:
27 Dec 1840, Smethwick, Bridget d of Joseph Worwood and Sarah.

This probably the family- again just minimum details due to phone, but if someone searches for Joseph Worwood born abt 1808, Scargill, Warwickshire you should find it:

1861, Tansley Hill, Dudley
Joseph Worwood, 53, Road Labourer, Scargill, Warwickshire
Sarah, 55, Somerton, Staffordshire
Richard, 22, Somerton, Staffordshire
Joseph, 12, Dudley
Hannah, 17, Dudley

Edit: can't find a place called Somerton- what does it really say?
And the only Scargill seems to be in Durham?

This is one of those families that don't seem to to leave any clues:
Found a Joseph Worwood bapt in 1808 in Halesowen, of all places! But in 1841 he seems to still be there married to an Amelia...

And, of course, the family we are looking at were in Harborne in 1841! Where were they in 1851? - can't find them.

Nomadic springs to mind.....

Just did a search for Richard Worwood b abt 1838, Staffordshire, hoping to locate the family in 1851, and found on the IGI (ODM - extracted - looks like it might be the same Richard - note Tansley Hill, which is where the family were in 1861, is not far from St Giles, Rowley Regis)

9 Dec 1861, Rowley Regis
Richard Worwood, 23 (ie b abt 1838), son of Joseph Worwood
& Caroline Round, 22, dau of Joseph Round

In 1891 Richard & Caroline Worwood are in Cainham, Shropshire, with a family of children and grandchildren.
I think Richard is still there in 1911, giving birthplace as Tividale, but can't access that.

I've been looking at those - it seems Joseph, and his brothers, Benjamin, Thomas and Henry all went to Ohio - I think they are a different family to those of Bridget Worwood, but both families seem to have connections with Smethwick, Halesowen/ Oldbury and Rowley Regis , so there might be a connection

Yes Jo, that is the family of the Joseph who married Amelia - I've found lots on them: most of the sons went to America. I cant connect them to the family of Bridget Worwood though, but as I said above, I suspect there is a connection
