Celebration Week

Post by BC Wench »

We've had an absolutely wonderful week celebrating my Mother and Father-in-law's 70th Wedding Anniversary here in Scotland, where they now live near to us.

On Tuesday they had an afternoon tea at the Tuesday Club which they attend. Wednesday 8th was their Anniversary where we had a beautiful afternoon buffet at the local pub with around 60 people singing and dancing. On Friday a pony and trap, be-decked with balloons, banners and flowers picked them up from their home and went around the High Street, ending up at the Town Hall where the Friday Club laid on a meal for all the members. A local man read out a poem which he had composed of their married life and a Mr & Mrs competition also took place which was absolutely hilarious.

So all in all we've all had a really memorable week or as my Mother-in-law would say, "it's one for the book." Pa-in-law says "Here's looking forward to the 80th Anniversary" where Ma-in-law just shakes her head and shudders.

Everybody in the town who know them love them to pieces and have really made them welcome in the 18 months since they've lived up here, which is so lovely for us to hear and we're very very proud of them both for making the move from Oldbury at such a big age.

Thanks very much folks for your lovely comments.

It's all been well documented Jo, card from the Queen, photos, videos and even the photographer from the local newspaper. One of the locals wanted it to be on the local t.v. news , but we thought it would be too overpowering for them.

We're all finally coming down to earth now, well I am anyway
