Do you mean the spelling of the surname? If so, when transcribing you have to put what you see.

Thomas signed it as Dial so must know his name :-) Also no orig census survived till 1911 so the enumerator must have put the dif name

So he signs as Dial on marriage

I would be inclined to put his name on Bcc as Dial but with a note.

Think he should be entered as Doyle on BCC as he is only Dial once?

I think so RF as profession and that of his father tie up and Doyle is an Irish surname and Dial is not
