One for the Boys or Girls if...............

Post by BC Wench »

........ you were a child growing up in the 1950's and read comics.

Do you remember a comic such as The Hotspur, Wizard etc. where there was a proper written short story, not cartoon type, of a boy and his travels on trainspotting?

It's driving Ken mad and even asking around nobody can remember. I can't help him because I was more into the Bunty and Judy comics, but did read my brothers comics, but it just doesn't ring a bell with me at all.

Also, a gypsy/romany boy who played football. Ken seems to think the boy's name was Ned, but doesn't know for sure.

All suggestions greatly received and put Ken out of his misery. Old timers disease is setting in :-)

We had Superman and The Dandy,Beano,Topper and The Bunty in our house growing up in the 50's but my uncles had The Hotspur,Wizard and Rover so i'd read them up there every sunday. I can remember The Wolf of Kabul,Dozy Danny Lorimer,Limp Along Leslie and Alf Tupper.Oh and Truth about Wilson but i can't remember any stories about transpotting.Mind you i only read the cartoons and there were in The Rover or Wizard short stories without illustrations which i never bothered with.

Thanks everybody for your replies. Will get Ken to have a look at that forum SRD. Mind you, he's a technophobe so he might end up producing me with a cup of coffee :-)
