Robert and Rosannah had children
Joseph Henry Rollason born 1893 died 1986
Agnes Elizabeth Rollason.born 1895. She died during the Birmingham blitz but I can't find any more info. She married Henry Tarrant in Birmingham.
Both of these births were registered by the same registrar.

Then came Jesse in 1900. Not Jaware as transcribed. He married Winifred May Langston in 1925. He was killed in a traffic accident in Bilston but I don't have a date.
Then Betsy Jane in 1901. She married Isaac Jones in 1937 at Saint Leonards Bilston. She died 1981
Next came Eliza Elizabeth. Born in 1904 She married William Beckett in 1927. I think she died in 1971 but I'm not sure
Then the youngest was William Thomas born 1907. He was known as little Billy. He was a merchant's clerk. Sadly he was killed 1st October 1923 by Samuel Whittingham. The verdict was manslaughter

These children were all registered as Rowson. Different registrar to the first two children.
I know the names of their children too.

If anyone can find little Billy on the 1911 census, I would be very grateful. My Grandad, Joseph Henry was living with his Grandmother but the rest of the family were in the workhouse.

I found out quite a bit more about Rosannah
Birth 8th May 1972. Black Horse Yard, Bilston
Christened 12th May 1872 High Street Primative Methodist, Bilston
Married 9th March 1891 at Bilston Parish Church to Robert Rowson
Died 14th Feb 1951at Lavender Grove Bilston. Cause of death was pneumonia. This was at her Daughter, Betsy's home.
Buried 20th Feb 1951 in Bilston Cemetery

Robert's age can't be right on the 1891 census? He seems to have aged just three years between censuses.
He marries Rosannah in March 1891 and gives his age as 22.
1901 he's 39 and 1911 he's caught up a bit and is 52
He died 22nd April 1922 aged 55.
Confusing

Well, either I pulled everyone off track, or Robert pretended to be younger when he married and in the census just after, then he gave ages closer to his real age, but his age at death was registered by his widow and she based it on what he said when they married. Is that possible?

It's almost certainly Agnes Elizabeth.
I know for sure that she married a Tarrent. Mum had her on the family tree.
I found this birth Wolverhampton 6b 692 and the date is right
Then I found this marriage Birmingham 6d 861 She was a nurse in Birmingham, I have photos of her in uniform and she died during the Birmingham blitz.
I don't have certificates but it seems right to me. Everything fits in nicely.



Yes gardener, they are my lot. Some of the dates are slightly out, but I'm sure it's them. Their parents are in there too.
I would say there is every chance that John William is our "little Billy" I can't find him anywhere else

Maybe they were useless at keeping records at the workhouse.

Grandad registered Robert's death but he probably wasn't sure of his age anyway

I think it is Agnes Jane not Agnes Elizabeth....just cos of some info I found prev....but cant find birth for agnes jane so prob census wrong in 1911.

Do you have the birth certif of your Agnes Elizabeth or her marriage certif to prove fathers name?

I don't have any certificates for Agnes. They are so expensive that I only buy them for my direct ancestors. Can you let me have the info you have please. If I've got it wrong I need to put it right.

Grandad is living with his Grandmother Mary Brazier,was Cammies.
I have loads of proven info on the Braziers but almost none on the Cammies side. I can go back to Mary's Father John Cammies, I think he was born in Birmingham in 1814/ Son of John Cammies and Mary. her Mother was Rosannah Armstrong. I think He was born in 1784 in Wellington Shropshire but I can't prove it.
Ada's parents were Alice Brazier and William Hall. They moved to Ellesmere Port.
I think Thomas' parents were in the workhouse.

I cant see an Agnes Jane birth Rollason or Rowson so it must be the Agnes Elizabeth.....but would
have liked to have seen that marriage in b'ham to Tarrant....can't see it on ancestry

Yes Joseph Henry Rollason was my Grandad. I knew his sister Betsy and brother Jesse well too.
He was born 25th January 1893 at Wolverhampton Street Bilston
Registered 6th March 1893 by Rosannah Rollason Mother
Father Robert Rollason Ironworker
He died 22nd March 1986 West Park Hospital Wolverhampton

I have the original marriage certificate so it's a bit tatty

He married Jennie Salt December 24th 1916 at Saint Lukes Bilston
