Commemorated on Panel 21 of Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

7th Bn., Lincolnshire Regiment. 51st Brigade of 17th Division.

Born: Tipton, Enlisted: Darlaston, Resident: Tipton.

First landed France & Flanders, 11th August 1915.
Medal entitlement: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Soldier's Papers at National Archives did not survive.

Commemorated on the Tipton Library, and St. Mark's memorials.
Commemorated here because he appears on a Tipton memorial.

Action resulting in his death
The 7th Lincolns, as part of 17th Division, had been in the Ypres Salient since September 1915. From November 1915 they had been posted near Railway Wood, just over a mile east of Ypres, alternating between front line and support duties.

From New Year 1916 the 7th Lincolns had been in the front line, and were to be relieved on the night of 4th / 5th January. This had been a quiet period for the 7th Lincolns as there was only one fatality in the first 2 weeks of January, this however was Harold Forrester. Harold has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate in Ypres.
