ARC TBC Dissapearence? RESOLVED

Post by SteveT »

My Paternal GGrand Mother Sarah Ann Brookes (b1876) is listed in the 1881 census as living with her Aunt and Uncle at 71 Toll End Rd Tipton, I know she gave birth to my Grandfather in 1899, I cannot however find any record of her in the 1891 census? She was still singlke when she gave birth to my grandfather so her name hasn't changed by marriage, I've also searched for her in her uncles name (Walker) in the 1891 census but no joy there either. Has anyone got any suggestions as to her whereabouts?

TIA
Steve

Can you post any other details?

Who were her parents and grandparents?

Do you have her uncle in the 1891 census?

I have no info on her parents at all, her uncles name was John Walker - there is a death record for a John Walker in 1885 - her aunt was Elizabeth - a death record exists for an Elizabeth Walker in 1891 - and they lived at 71 Toll End Rd. Like the forum say's, brick wall.

Ok added to Bcc what I can but stuck.

John Walker and Elizabeth Davies marriage

father for him is a William Walker and father for her is a George Davies

1881 71 Toll End Road, Tipton
John Walker 32 head shingler Tipton
Elizabeth Walker 27 wife ditto
Emma Davies 49 wid lodger ditto
Harry Davies 21 lodgers step son ditto
Sarah A. Davies 18 lodgers step dau ditto
Sarah A. Brooks 5 niece ditto [ think she is the daughter of Edward Brookes and Elizabeth/Betsy Crimes....

The John Walker in 1881 is b 1849

The John Walker in 1861 is b abt 1845
1861
John Chrimes 28 head labourer Shropshire
Hannah Chrimes wife 31 Gospel oak [I think this is Emma because later she says born Gospel Oak)
John Walker 16 son in law Leaborook
Elizabeth Chrimes 4 dau Leabrook

The one on the marriage to Elizabeth davies is aged 22 in 1876 so age out b abt 1854

So no idea how Sarah Ann Brookes connects to Emma Manders and either Unknown Walker or Joseph Davies

she is down as niece to John Walker

so she could be neice to John if John is son of Emma manders from 1st marrige

but I think that marriage in 1876 is wrong one...is there another for John Walker to an Elizabeth

GARDENER!!! NEED YOUR HELP

Thanks for your help you lovely people, Sarah gave birth to my Grandfather Mark in 1899, she married my GGrandfather (also Mark) in 1902. They had two other children William (1903) and Elizabeth (1907), she died about November 1908. Elizabeth married Horace Parker (b1905) in 1929; I have no further info yet on William.

To throw a couple of spanners into the works, in the 1901 census there is a Sarah Ann Brookes as a domestic in West Bromwich, and in the 1891 census theres one in the Himley area of Dudley. I can recall parts of a conversation with my mom about someone on my fathers side being a domestic servant, but I'm not sure who she was on about, so the West Bromwich one could be the Sarah Ann I'm looking for, or maybe not. I will try to contact my dad's cousin to see if he knows anything.
