Anyway, I get a bit lost when trying to label the family members. For example I know my Dad was my father and his father was my grandfather. But what about the following, what are they to me? (sorry there's no prizes in the offering....):
my great-grandfather's daughter
my grandfather's daughter
my great-grandfather's brother
my great-grandfather's brother's wife
my great-grandfather's brother's daughter
my great-grandfather's son
my great-grandfather's neighbour's cat (oh, ignore this one, I jest!)

I never heard "grand aunt" before. I always called my garndmother's sister my great-aunt. Mind , that could be a Derbyshire way of doing things
