Hello everyone.
I have only been researching my family since last November but have made some fascinating discoveries on the way - and some hopelessly wrong assumptions, but that is part of the challenge. Didn't realise how addictive it can be.
I am researching the BATE family who lived in Gornal and Sedgley:
Joseph Bate b.1806 - on 1841 census at Lower Gornal
His son Benjamin Bate b. 1841 - on 1851 census at Diddles Lane, Sedgley
His son, also Benjamin Bate b. 1867 - on 1871 census at 20 Cinder Road, Gornal.
His son, Joseph Bate (my maternal grandfather) b. 1903
Although BATE is my primary research, I am also looking at DEANS (Eliza who married Benjamin Bate in 1891).
I have managed to find all my paternal line (Fellowes and Aston who moved from Gornal to Barnsley at the turn of the 20th century) and discovered I am from a long line of miners on both sides of my family.
I am Gornal born but my parents moved to Warwickshire over 40 years ago.
My main challenge is to identify Annie Bate who was born 1891/1892/1893, daughter of Benjamin (b.1867) and Eliza (b.1867).
I have obtained a birth certificate for the wrong Annie, so can I ask the mods/admin if it is possible to offer this certificate free to anyone who may be researching another branch of the BATE family - I won't post details until I get the ok.
Regards
Judith T.

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
