Yer all so musical...

Post by gardener »

I need a song (actually three by the same person) in French, which I can survive listening to at least 10 times a day and which won't drive me nuts. And I need to be able to "synchronize the lyrics with the songs all my yourself".

Any suggestions? Not Edith Piaf if you don't mind :-)

Hands up who listens to French music?

Actually a Belgian but he sang mainly in French Jacques Brel wrote many songs that were translated into English, Terry Jacks' Season's in the Sun, David Bowie's Amsterdam, Rod McKuen's If You Go Away (also covered by many other artistes e.g Dusty Springfield, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand) and Marc Almond did a whole album of his songs. But his own versions, readily availabe all over the place, are much more powerful.
If you want something silly there's Plastic Bertrand's stuff.
In my youth I was in love with Mireille Mathieu and Francoise Hardy, there's plenty of their stuff on Youtube.
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.

Thanks. I've never heard of her! I have a huge blank for the period 1983-2000 I think. Not much made it to the radio here in Iceland and it has only got going since the internet woke things up.
Thanks for those ideas too SRD. I'm going to have a good listen to everything tonight.
