Happy New Year Everyone
Sorry, I know it's a bit late, but I've spent most of the last 10 days in Russells Hall Hospital.
Not been a perfect Christmas or New Year so far, hopefully things will get back on track.
I spent most of December confined to the house because of an all over itchy rash. Still not found out what caused it, but after been given a course of steroids, it's gone. Then on New Year's eve, we were enjoying much food and drinkies, when my son in law's mate, who is a little on the large size, lifted his chair to get nearer the table and placed the chair and himself on my foot.
Luckily, because of the festivities and the copious amounts of red wine, I slept through the pain - but the next day, my foot looked a bit like an elephant's foot, so I was taken to the hospital for an X Ray. It was incredibly bruised, but luckily it was only my toe that was broken, but there's nothing really they can do for a broken toe. So - another week when I was unable to drive.
Then last week, I had a call from my sister to say my mom had taken a fall and broken her hip, which obviously is considerably worse than a broken toe. She was operated on last Monday, which just happened to be her 96th birthday. So - most of last week I was having to cadge lifts to the hospital to visit her. Hopefully she will be out of hospital next week.
So - like I say, hopefully the rest of the year will be a good year.
Hope you all have a very healthy and prosperous New Year

They say bad things happen in threes, so let's hope your run of bad luck (not to mention your Moms) is over. Hope you're both feeling better soon!

Re: Happy New Year Everyone
Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. Mom seems to be on the mend, although it will be a long treck. She could be discharged from hospital in the next few days, but she will need to go on the step down programme. This is a bit like a nursing home, but she will have her own room and on site nursing and physio facilities. Hopefully this will be temporary, but it all depends if she can become fully mobile again. Luckily my sister works for Dudley Social Services and has worked with the elderly for a number of years. From what we have seen so far, care for the elderly in the Dudley Borough, seems very good, which is comforting.
Mom just wants to go somewhere where we can all visit at any time rather than hospital visiting times. I've bought her a DVD of Gone with the Wind (with subtitles), so we are planning a "girlie" afternoon with sweets, popcorn and Clark Gable - doesn't get much better than that.

Late in passing on my Happy New Year! But I do wish you all the very best.
I hope things are settling better for you Maggie. Been through the mill ourselves at home and we could do with some better luck too! Keep your chin up.
