Recovering from break in

Post by spes123 »

A few months ago I was broken into and it seems that because they did not find what they were looking for, they just trashed the cupboards and drawers emptying everything onto the floor. They did the same to all my folders with my family research in along with bank statements and accounts for HMRC they then proceeded to use the paper pile as a toilet!

I am now starting to go through what was salvageable and refile etc, but reckon I have had to throw out about 30% of the documents including certs etc. And feeling very disheartened by the whole thing.

Note to self and anyone else, scan your documents, including research notes, if at all possible, as it saves a lot of pain if the originals get damaged etc.

Sorry to hear about your break in.

What I'd like to do to people who won't respect other people's property isn't printable.

Oh my goodness spes  That is terrible!
Ive just had problems similar to this but not my home, my daughters. Its not quite the same thing but I so feel for you. Some one violating your space like that must be so disturbing.
Shame on them
I hope you can recover what you possibly can and they find out who did this!
I hope you are ok from it? I would imagine feeling insecure and rather vunerable at the moment.
Chat away to us if it helps.
Take care.
Jo :)
