Did they go to Brazil?

I was listening to BBC Radio 4 yesterday (11/5/14) and caught the second part of 'The Invention of Brazil', currently available on the i-player at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b042zg75. In it they talk about the British involvement in the affairs of Portugal and Brazil in the 19th century. Included is a reference to the recruitment of British working people, especially from the Midlands, to go and work in the burgeoning British businesses in Brazil.

So do you have ancestors in the early to mid 19th century who seem to have vanished? Maybe they went to Brazil.
