ARC TBC - George Frederick Hingley

Post by nessa »

Hi, I am looking for a marriage for George Frederick Hingley born 1858 Cradley Heath parents James Hingley and Mary Ann Millward. There is a possible marriage on a tree on ancestry for 1889 I have looked but can't find the marriage, the same tree has his wife as Elizabeth Ricketts. On the 1911 census there is a George with wife Elizabeth she is down as being born in Chiswick, serveral children some born in USA and one in Australia, the address is Lane End Farm Bewdley.

Thanks nessa

Nessa,

The address and reference to a 'Hingley' in the notice below attracted my attention  :

Worcestershire Chronicle 5 October 1870 – family notice reporting the marriage, on September 27th in the Parish Church, Rock, of Alfred E Hingley, of Lane End Farm, Heightington, fifth son of Mr James Hingley, Chain and Cable Manufacturer, Cradley Heath, to Eliza Maria, third daughter of Mr Dorrell, The Wild, Heightington, Rock.

Hope it is not just a confusion :?

Thank you for the replies, I have made a note of the newspaper information, as for the marriage just keep looking. I wonder why he went to Australia then New York, obviously a much travelled family.

Nessa,

I apologise as I stated incorrectly that Alfred in the newspaper report was the son of a JAMES Hingley. He was not  . He was the son of Barzillai Hingley and the brother of James (who married Mary Ann Millward) and uncle to your George Frederick.

Sorry for the confusion but as I have been tracking him to try to find clues for your search, I will start a new thread for Alfred Eli to enhance the record on BCC.

I wondered when you said James I have Barzillai as his father, I thought I had missed one somewhere, easily done as there are so many Hingley's with the same Christian name.
