quite amazingly I found Major Daryl Peal's medals were on sale in 2010 on a Russian forum. The post listed in English his service history, along with mentioning a court case which he lost, where he was charged with slander after accusing a Frenchman of being a spy!

Commissioned 13 February 1918.
MIC confirms WWI pair and service with 2/67th Punjabis. To 1st Lancers April 1919. 16th Rajputs February 1921. 110th Mahratta Light Infantry January 1922. 2/5th Mahratta Light Infantry October 1923 (Captain) to September 1935.

I do wonder what happened to my gr grndfathers medals - my moms cousin said that one of his uncles threw loads of stuff out when his mother died!
