This supports the theory that the transcription work for the census was outsourced to India with non-english speaking transcribers. Either that or its someone who is the product of the great British eduction system and has no idea what Ditto means.
Hit a Brickwall? Have you lost all trace of someone? Do not despair, simply make a note they were abducted by aliens! Don't believe in aliens? No problem, just write them off as having disapeared in a time portal

It reminds me of a memorable achievement when I scored -21/20 (minus 21 out of 20) in French dictée because I tried to spell-out all the punctuation marks :oops:
