Jan,
For completeness
, James and Mary, also had a son, Thomas. In the 1841 census, Mary is shown as a ‘widow’ living in Two Gates, Cradley, Worcestershire with a family comprising, George, James, Betsy, Thomas and Esther.
No birth record was found for Thomas but the census records show he was born in 1837/8.
Thomas subsequently moved to South Wales and in the 1861 census, he is shown living in Chain Works Row, Glyntaff, Near Pontypridd, South Wales (transcribed as Gase or Gass); he is a ‘Boarder’ with a Mary Richard and described as a ‘[Chain] Striker’. Subsequently, a BMD record was found which shows that Thomas married an Ellen Williams in the Cardiff District in the December quarter of 1862. You will note that Thomas's sister, Betsy, also moved to South Wales. One of Thomas's descendants became MP for Pontypridd.
Also, with regard to son, George, no further record of him has been found in any of census after 1851 and, thus, it can be assumed that he died before 1861 and this assumption is reinforced by a BMD record which shows the death of a George Gaze in the Dudley District in the September quarter of 1842.
