My mom lived in Alexandra Road. Her mom and dad both died while they were in their 40's, so mom's next eldest sister took on the tenancy. I remember going to visit my aunty and her family in the 1950's in Alexandra Road and having to walk past Palethorpes pork sausage factory. All I can remember is the terrible smell coming from the factory and the gasometer just over the road.
