whilst research is ongoing under this heading I note that the siblings of William Samuel Hughes 1884 were not completed on BCC tree last year nor did I give any info on my parent and their sibblings.
I will never know how much or how little my father new of the past or of the knowledge that his grandmother Esther was still alive up to eight years after I was born.
is it possible to include this info on the BCC tree, from another thread if necessary.

many thanks,
LL

Brought this back to board cos 2 look ups done

and I am confused

Alexanders marriage to Hannah Maria Griffin confirms she is a wid
Extracted IGI and at Birmingham archives.
ALEXANDER HUGHES otp widower
Marriages:
Spouse: HANNAH MARIA GRIFFIN otp widow
Marriage: 12 SEP 1822 St Bartholomew Edgbaston, Warwick,
X Alexander Hannah signed
wit Joseph Rolinson / Hannah unite Rolinson X

this marriage we thought maybe her is a spinster
name of Edwards
29 May 1810 St Philip B'ham
Richard Griffin otp bach
Hannah Maria Edwards otp spinster
by License
both sign
wit edwards? Joshua Griffin

I was hoping it would be Hannah Maria Edwards wid

and she was prev married to an Edwards

she bapts kids with middle name Lester
there is a bapt that fits

the info given to Nl was :
glad to see marriage of Alexander and Hannah Maria Griffin has been confirmed, from others I have been in touch with, who share branches of my family tree it has always shown that her maiden name was Lester but I can't discount the name Edwards yet. even my 2x gd Samuel is shown as Samuel Lester on one list.

Alexander Hughes (1785-1848) married 2nd wife Hannah Maria Griffin (nee Lester) (1790-1870)in 1822 at St Bartholomews, Edgbaston Warwickshire
children :
Mary Lester Hughes (1823- C1861) m. Michael Hodgkiss (1817- 1861) in 1839.
William Lester Hughes (1825-1907) m. Mary Knowles (1827-C1861) in 1844,St James, West Bromwich
Samuel Lester Hughes (1828-1904) m. Clara Ann Barnsley (1833-1915) in 1850,these are my 2x gt grandparents
Emma Hughes (1830-1871) m. John Johnson (1829) in 1850 at St Thomas Netherton.

Elizth Lester Griffin (1817) mentioned above is obviously before Alexander's time and the comments of NL are valid, I wonder if any of the other families can throw any light on the matter.

This is a really really interesting one.

There must be a Lester somewhere for Hannah Maria was her mother a lester ?

So LL do we think that she marries Richard Griffin was it Richard
Joshua is wit on that marriage
Richard dies...............any death anywhere?

she has Elizabeth Lester Griffin with Joshua

and then marries Alexander Hughes.

Can someone check to see if On IGI any other kids to a Joshua Griffin and Hanna Maria pls

looking on IGI there are that many Lester's, and taking Hannah Maria's maiden name as Lester then these may have a possible connection

William Lester, spouse Mary Caddick, Married 28 Sept 1780 St Thomas Dudley Worcester, Indexing M04014-4
William Lester burial date 25 jan 1784 Dudley Worcester indexing l04832-5
Mary Lester christened 11 Nov 1792 St Thomas Dudley Worcester indexing C04014-1,GS film378763,378764

there is a Elizabeth Lester Burial 11 May 1795 Dudley Worcester indexing l03880-7

we have to remember that the basic information we have has not changed.

census 1841 Hannah Maria Hughes age 50 Dudley born in county.
census 1851 do do do age 60 born Worcester Dudley

this is before I found any connection with the maiden name Lester.

So LL do you think then that this marriage we have put as a poss is wrong one
29 May 1810 St Philip B'ham
Richard Griffin otp bach
Hannah Maria Edwards otp spinster
by License
both sign
wit edwards? Joshua Griffin

and it is that Joseph one..............looks very very good

they have elizabeth lester Griffin

he dies and then she marries Alexander in 1822

works for me that one
