before she married, Elizabeth Shakespeare had at least three illegitimate children, Ann b 1863, Lucy b 1868, and Joseph b 1870 (all b Brockmoor).
The middle one of these, Lucy, who also used the name Hanbury, married Benjamin Littleton Pearson, in 1892, he was born 1862, son of Joseph Pearson (1841-1889), and Sarah Ann Harris (1841-1929). This Joseph Pearson was the son of David Pearson (1819-1871) and Ann Wood (1820-1843), and David's parents (Joseph Pearson & Phoebe Parrish) are on BCC here:

So the unfortunate Jeremiah is related to me on at least two different lines.

Jan
I think you could be right.
I don't have the Harris marriage. A lot of the info came from two of David Pearson's (b 1819) descendants. I know they had some certificates, which I possibly have copies (or notes from) somewhere. But, the fact that I don't have the marriage date/ place, or Sarah Ann's fathers name makes me suspicious. Joseph won't appear in census after 1881 - he died in 1889 and is buried at Wordsley.

His father, David, incidentally, married twice. The one to Ann Wood you have found. Other marriage was to Ann Pearks 8 Oct 1844, Sherbourne, Warwickshire, only two children from marriage to Ann Wood, and nine from second marriage.

I will try to post more details tomorrow afternoon, but a little bit bit more about David born 1819 for now:

He was also a colliery owner, but his mines flooded, the banks refused him a loan for the necessary pumping equipment, and appeals to his brothers for help failed - a copy of a letter to him from his brother George ( founder of Harris & Pearson) survives, intriguingly with parts of the reply inked out. This is why he appears as a 'roll turner' - he was in Scotland at one point. I have the same story from his descendants on several different lines, so am inclined to believe it.

David was bapt 14 March 1819 at Brierley Hill, and died 27 Sept 1871, Bromley Lane (that's definitely from cert).
