Can someone help me with a list of those online sites that are have software that is free to download or sites that will host your tree for free.
to start off your family history.
Want to know if this is correct.
Ancestry- You can upload your tree in a public or private tree....question do you have to be a member of ancestry to
a)upload
b) then see the public trees
I think it is free to upload your tree....but if you want to view a tree even if public you have to subscribe to ancestry
is that true?
Find my past....do they offer a facility?
Roots Magic.....can you upload your tree? or do they do free software you can download and use?
Tribal Pages offer free hosting and you can back up your site.
Genes Reunited free hosting but to contact others you need to pay subscription?
what are the others?
Paf?
My heritage?
any others
I have Family tree maker which I like but mine is an early version.
question...does anyone have the latest or fairly new version and what do they think of it?
Which sites are free please

Re: Which sites are free please
You can upload a tree to MyHeritage for free but usage is limited.
I'm pretty sure http://www.mundia.com/gb/ is free, it's a branch of Ancestry and trees on it can be seen through Ancestry. Again you have to pay for the full shebang.
Similarly with http://www.tribalpages.com/.

Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.

Hit a Brickwall? Have you lost all trace of someone? Do not despair, simply make a note they were abducted by aliens! Don't believe in aliens? No problem, just write them off as having disapeared in a time portal
