Thomas Homer further information

Post by apowell »

Hi,

We were able to find some information on my ancestor Abel Homers (bapt 1810, Bilston) parents Thomas & Rachel nee Hill which were added to Black Country connections.

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... mer-Family

I think I have found further information on Thomas Homer that may help expand his family tree.

On freeREG website I found a couple of death enteries:

Thomas Homer
Buried: 15 Oct 1826, St. Bartholomew, Wednesbury
Age at death:56
Abode: Tipton

Mark Homer
Buried: 14 Sep 1816, St. Bartholomew, Wednesbury
Age at death: 7
Abode: Tipton

We know Thomas & Racheal had a number of children around the area including Wednesbury and one of those children was Mark Bapt 1808 Aston, Warwickshire and the age of the above Mark matches.

We guessed Thomas's age based on his wedding abt 1774 but looking at his age at his death he was born around 1767 and a lot older than his wife. On the IGI website I found a possible Bapt:
Thomas Homer
21 Jun 1767
Sedgley

The problem is it doesn't give any parents only a blank space which is odd and I'm wondering why ?

I have also collected more information on the children of Thomas & Racheal which I can add to the Black Country connections if someone can go over how to input the data again

Any ideas

Kind regards
Adrian

Send me your e-mail in a PM and I will invite you to my Ancestry Tree.

Thomas and Rachell are my 5x Great Grandparents and it is a while since I looked them up but I have some more info I will add to my tree and BCC as soon as I can.

On my tree there is a death cert for Rachell but you will not find one for Thomas as he died just before compulsory registration was enforced.

Hi,

Yes let's archive because I think I will need to check out the actual entry given the IGI has most likely made an error.

Hi,

It's not confirmed but we didn't know his birth date however based on his marriage date of 1795 we estimated abt 1777 however I found further information on his possible burial of 1826 and his age was given 56. This gives his estimated year of birth around 1767 which fits perfectly with the bapt at Sedgley where he also got married. This of course doesn't guarentee anything but just frustrating that no parents are given on the IGI so I'm unable to investigate further. I maybe able to get someone to view the Sedgley parish records so I will advise once I have obtained the information.

If I'm unable to get this information I will post requesting a look up which will be most helpful

Many thanks
Adrian
