After recently being disappointed with the GRO being unable to provide me with a copy of one of my relative's birth cert, last week I went along in person to the local (London, Paddington) register office which is the area where the birth took place.
Was gobsmacked when they were able to supply it there and then in barely 30 minutes!
My gob had never been so smacked believe you me.....
