La Tour

Post by Rob »

Is everyone keeping in touch with La Tour.Cavandish won yesterday's stage after having a bottle of urine thrown at him by a spectator a couple of days ago.He thought it was water at first but realized, after tasting it ,that it was pee!
Reminded me of when we were kids and we'd take cold tea in a bottle for refreshments whilst playing football.Pee and tea look the same when in a bottle!!
Anyway the overall leader is Chris Froome (British) and with the Alps approaching he looks to be in control and will be wearing the yellow jersey down L'Avenue des Champions-Élysées next weekend.

I dunno about Froome for the yellow jersey; Team Sky are looking a bit fragile and he can't do it on his own whilst Contador and his Saxo-Tinkoff team look strong.

Maybe, counting and chickens come to mind. It was a tremendous effort from Froome and today is a rest day to give him a bit of a chance to recover. It was good to see Porte come back again but he fell back quite a way once his job was done. Will he be there the next time? And despite being well beaten yesterday Contador didn't lose that much time, if Froome finds himself isolated in a peleton with no need to chase and with little support from his team there's still a chance for Saxo-Tinkoff.

Mark Cavendish is coming to our town in about two weeks for Post Danmark Rundt - unless like BW last years he backs out at the last minute! We shall be watching them three times round the town before they cross the finish line.
