It is interesting because the elusive Dora is supposed to have been born in Coventry abt. 1899.

Dunno.
I can't even decide what is happening with the others.
James who married Sarah seems to be down as widowed in 1901 so if that is the case, Sarah died after 1891.
I suppose Sarah could have had Dora and then died. But I'm not sure that the James in Wales in 1911 is the same one anyway because he is suddenly saying born Ocker Hill and that seems to fit the Bilston one better.
Can't make any sense of it. I did wonder if Sarah died after having Dora and then James took up with Elizabeth who was a relation of Sarah's but honestly it doesn't seem to work out.

Have found Eliz Baugh in the census's

1871 Dudley Rd Wolverhampton

Enoch M 34 Head
Sarah F 28 Wife
Eliz F 8 Scholar
Richard M 7 Scholar

1881 58 Chapel St Wolverhampton
Enoch is now a widower
Eliz is a dress maker
Richard is a steel worker

She married James in 1883 and they had 7 children, 4 of whom died
In the 1911 census two children are shown as living with James and Eliz

Dora b 1899 Coventry
Ethel May Vera b. 1903 Pontypool

Assuming that the other child is not staying with grandparents, then he or she is probably married or working, so would have been born 1883 - 1890. Not much help if it was a female as if she got married then the surname would have changed.

Maybe I should contact Coventry registry office and enquire about a birth certificate for Dora. Either way, it will not help me find where James is buried.

Have sent for a birth certificate for Dora, who was born in Coventry and a marriage certificate for James and Eliza who were married in Dudley around 1882/83.

Next thing is to visit my local library and look at the electoral registers from 1912 on. That was the year James wife Elizabeth died. Will be able to determine when James moved from his address, or died and look for a death around that date. Too many matches all over the country at the moment. As his daughters were only 9 and 12, I am wondering what happened to them. Had a quick look on free BMD for marriages, but no luck. They could have marred and gone to live anywhere.

Had replies back from both Coventry registry office where I sent for a birth certificate for Dora and Dudley where I sent for a marriage certificate for James & Elizabeth. No records found at either.

Looked for marriages on Freebmd 1875 - 1890 and searched just on the surname Baugh, only results that came up were Sarah and James.

The 2 James Martin born 1865 we have are different ones on Bcc

as in 1881 different places

so James and father Joseph
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =265529193

and James and father James
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =837193179

so the one that marries Sarah Baugh is the W'ton one.

odd though that they have a letitia who ends up in pontypool. :?

Have just searched freeBMD for marriages - Baugh 1880 - 1910 then checked all the Elizabeths and likely places - nothing

Searched on James Martin 1880 - 1910, the only Baugh that comes up is Sarah!!!

Maybe they never married and maybe they never registered the birth of Dora ?

Would it have been possible to just say you were married in those days ?
