You forget how big Australia is till...

Post by MarkCDodd »

My youngest heads off for a two week school excursion on Saturday morning.

First stop is Alice Springs which will take 32 hours by bus including a few rest stops on the way. (I have done the trip in 24 hours with three of us taking turns driving).

That is 2300 KMs away, Considering Great Britain is about 1350 KMs at its longest, that is quite a way to go by road.

The will visit Uluru (which is now the official name of what we used to call Ayers Rock).

They are going to spend quite a while hiking through Kakadu which is another 1600 KMs further on.

Two weeks is the longest she has ever been away and I just hope she enjoys herself.

I hope the kids come back with an understanding of the plight of the Aboriginal people and an appreciation of the beauty of their country.

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

They play havoc with the sheets.

What a wonderful opportunity for her Mark - I'm sure she will love it and come back with loads of pictures and precious memories. Better than the day in Weston we used to have from school. Although it was always fun trying to find the sea.
