I am not sure if this is the right section for this post,
Joseph Thomas Jonothan Jones born about 1896 Pensnett
parents Joseph Merchant Jones and Pamela Tranter

I have found on a site The War Graves his death 2.6.1916 Belgium his unit is 26th Canadian Infantry New Brunswick nationality Canadian, parents named as Joseph Merchant Jones and Pamela Tranter 56, Tower Street Dudley.

I can't find Joseph Thomas Jonothan Jones in the 1911 census have his parents with siblings

He must have emigrated to Canada before the war and enlisted I don't have access to Ancestry worldwide membership can someone look and see when he did emigrate to Canada, this is another mystery in the family.

The record is for John Thomas Jones. Is that correct and not Joseph?

There is a tradition of Joseph's being called John in my mums family so I presume this is why he is John not Joseph.
