Re: Stumped
My head hurts after looking at the ancestry research. It's not made any easier by the fact that James and Joseph were fashionable names at the time. Something does not fit somewhere. Initially I thought Sarah may have been a Sarah Elizabeth, but turned out not to be the case.
My Direct line was a David Martin, who had a brother James. James had a son whom he named James b. 1864 in Tipton
I have located him in the 1881 Census living at 17 Hall St Bilston. (From details in the 1911 census, which says he was married 28 years) I estimate they married around 1882/83.
On the 1911 Census it lists 7 children born, 4 still alive. Dora was one who was born in Coventry c.1899
My ancestor David, left Tipton and moved to Griffithstown in 1883. During reasearch, I found in the electoral rolls 1894/95 a James staying with him. I assumed that this was James I was unable to find him in the 1891 or 1901 census's but found him in the 1911 census living in New Inn. They had two children at the time Dora and Ethel May Vera b.1903. I obtained a birth certificate which showed the Mother as Elizabeth Martin and clearly marked is Baugh. The address is Pen Y wain Pontypool. James's occupation is now listed as a commission agent.
In the 1911 census, his occupation is now again in the steel industry and he is a welder.
I found the Death for his wife and obtained a death Certificate, Elizabeth Martin 19th July 1912. Gwynfa cottage New Inn.
I am yet to find the death and location for James. During my research, I have found one of the census records which shows Elizabeth as Helena. The dates of birth and ages are often way out.
Seems strange however that the only suitable marriage for that period of a Baugh and a Martin are a James and a Sarah.

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Re: Stumped
Marriage certificate arrived
St Georges Church Wolverhampton Oct 8th 1882
James Martin 21 Bachelor Tin plate worker Duke st Father Joseph Martin Sawyer
Sarah Baugh 21 Spinster Wire worker Bilston Road Father Edward Baugh Miner
Witnesses Thomas Bannister
Maria Baugh
I will need to sit down and research the Baugh family when I get. Have come across this family, but did not look closely at it. I am looking to see if there was an Eilzabeth Baugh in the family.
Secondly I was hoping to have found a James Martin with a father James. Maybe the James I am looking at is not the James I want him to be. There were a few Martins from Staffordshire who appear in the area and have no connections at all. Maybe he is one of those.
The thing that puzzles me is that I am unable to find the James I am looking for in the 1891/1901 census's, no record of a Marriage to an Elizabeth and no baptism for a Dora in 1899 in Coventry.
I have a case of two brothers who married two sisters, maybe that's what happened here.

Re: Stumped
I think we have 2 James Martin and we have them both on 1881 diff places
I have added to Bcc both James...
one b W'ton 1865
other born Tipton area maybe regis Dudley 1865
Do you have the birth certif for this one Taffster?
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =364289262
1881 17 Hall Street Bilston
James Martin head married 53 labourer in Iron works?
Eliza Martin wife married 50
James Martin son 17 marker in sheet mill
Joseph Martin son 10 scholar
all born Bilston Wolverhampton
Then we have the W'ton one with father Joseph here
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... i=99285368
and on 1881 single living with father and brother Joseph.
1881 living 15 Duke St Wolverhampton
wid labourer in Iron works in household is Betsy Watkins dau 30 and son James Martin son unmarried 18 Tin man along with Joseph Martin son carpenter aged 22
so that looks like the one who "marries" Elizabeth Baugh with a father James and mother Eliza a marker in sheet mill
that sounds like a welder to me.........
where are James Martin and wife Eliza in 1891 and 1901?
The other one is living with his sister Betsy Watkins and Brother Joseph (Sarah wife is with her father)
so to me different James....but where is ours as Taffster says in 1891 and 1901
and where is Doras birth regis
I have added to Bcc both James...
