Re: Stumped
Is it worth getting the birth certificate for Ethel Vera May? Just to confirm her mother's maiden name?
One possibility is that the maiden name given on her death certificate is wrong. Or it could be a name from a previous marriage. Or it could be her maiden name but her marriage to James was a 2nd marriage. And the number of years married on the 1911 census may be incorrect.

She was definitely Baugh, as I manged to find her living with her parents when she was younger. The number of years married matches, married in 1883 and 28 years on the 1911 census. Wish I could find the names of the children. They could have been born anywhere. Will sit down and have a good look at this on my day off and think of a new avenue to pursue.

Which marriage? Can you post the details off FBMD or somewhere?

Just had a quick look on free BMD. I initially searched for a marriage for James Martin Wolverhampton based on the fact that they had been married 28 years in 1911 and that he originated from there.
Cross checked by looking for a marriage of Elizabeth Baugh, but no matching date. I need to spend some time finding the correct date of the marriage.

Taffster wrote:I have been tracing one of my ancestors, and have found him in the 1911 census with his wife. From local cemetery records, it shows his wife died in 1912, and a death certificate confirms it is her. There is no record in any of the local cemeteries for him. I thought he may have been cremated.
Checked on Free BMD and found some suitable dates and ages that match. Contacted the local registry office with details, and they told me it's not him.
I am now thinking that he may have moved and gone to live with one of his children, whom I do not know the names of. He could have died anywhere in the country and at any time after 1912.
Had thought of looking on free BMD for dates and age at death, but that will return hundreds of matches all over the country between 1912 - 1940 or so.
Any ideas ?
Can you transcribe and post the death certif info I can add to BCC then
might help too

Where is her death on freebmd...did she die in Staffs?

I think the maiden name needs to be confirmed by one of the birth certifs.
How do you actually know it is Baugh?
how are the kids registered?

Just spent a while on free BMD and found the same as above, before I looked here. Maybe her name was Sarah Elizabeth Baugh. They seem to have moved around a bit, with a Dora being born in Coventry 1899 and then I find no trace of them in the 1891 & 1901 census. I have a birth certificate for Ethel May Vera 1903 and they now live in Pontypool. Sarah/Eliza died in 1912 and is buried in a local cemetery (From the burial records held at the church)

Re: Stumped
The only James Martin I can find born around that time (1864) Seems he was working away at that time, and possibly in 1901.

Re: Stumped
Odd though that Letitia dies in pontypool
I wonder if James Martin marries this Sarah Baugh but they split up
and he ends up with Elizabeth Baugh...
I still think that marriage would be interesting to see his occupation
could be your James
